Managed Self-Service BI will be a top trend for 2015

This post is also available in: Spanish

We are witnessing an evident shift of Business Intelligence (BI) from an IT-centric to a Self-Service process. The Self-Service approach enables users to create their own personalized reports, run their own queries and conduct their own analysis without the assistance of IT staff. Self-Service BI is a process which can be beneficial to both the IT department and Business Users as it enables users to make rapid informed decisions based on data instead of intuition whilst allowing technical teams to focus their efforts on more strategic IT initiatives.

According to Gartner, most business users and analysts in organizations will have access to Self-Service tools to prepare data for analysis by 2017, whilst Forrester predicts that Managed Self-Service BI Will Continue to Close the Business and Technology Gap. On this subject, Forbes reported that Visual data-discovery, which is an important enabler of end user Self-Service, will grow 2.5 times faster than the rest of the market, becoming a requirement for all enterprises by 2018.

This transformation has no doubt been influenced by recent developments extensively widening the scope of Self-Service Business Intelligence to include new capabilities such as; structured and unstructured data, data-centric storytelling, data preparation (including ETL) and many more. As a result of these advancements, business users will experience greater control as Self-Service BI realizes seamless and expedient data integration between countless data sources from within and outside of the enterprise.

Therefore, the Development of Extract, Load and Transform (ELT) has always been one of the most time consuming tasks of issuing reports, which is complicated further by the enormity and velocity of Big Data. The large variation of data types required by business users to perform ad-hoc research for real-time decision making makes streaming into platforms insufficient.

AuraPortal Helium helps enterprise business users to easily and rapidly understand, analyze and even predict what will happen in the company and its environment without the need for any programming knowledge whatsoever.

With AuraPortal Helium you can convert data into useful and relevant information ready to distribute to the right people at the right time, enabling them to make appropriate and well-informed decisions. It allows the combination of data from many different sources and provides an integral, comprehensive and up to date view.
